What to watch for
Watch for pop-up ads or search results pushing software downloads, unexpected requests to install updates, or a Mac suddenly acting strangely after a recent download.
What to do
Only download apps and updates from the official App Store or the software maker’s website, and remove any recently installed program that came from an ad or unfamiliar source.
