Microsoft to End OneDrive Sync App Updates for Windows 10

Microsoft will stop providing OneDrive sync app updates for devices running older versions of Windows 10 starting August 15, 2026. This means files may still sync for a time, but those computers will no longer receive improvements or fixes for the OneDrive app, making it more important to update aging devices.

Who is at risk

People, schools, and businesses still using Windows 10 version 21H2 or earlier on computers that rely on OneDrive for file syncing are most at risk.

What to watch for

Watch for older Windows 10 computers that use OneDrive, especially if they are no longer getting regular system updates or are showing notices about outdated software.

What to do

Check your Windows version now and make a plan to update eligible computers to a newer supported version of Windows or replace devices that cannot be updated.
