AOL.com user data reportedly posted on Telegram, affecting 402,782 accounts

A file claimed to contain more than 400,000 AOL user records was reportedly shared on Telegram, raising the risk that exposed people could face fake emails, account break-ins, or identity misuse. Even if the data is older or incomplete, it can still be used to trick people into giving away more information.


Who is at risk

Current or former AOL users, especially anyone who reused an AOL password on other accounts, is most at risk.

What to watch for

Watch for unexpected password reset messages, unfamiliar sign-in alerts, suspicious emails or texts claiming to be from AOL, and any account activity you do not recognize.

What to do

Change your AOL password right away, use a unique password you do not use anywhere else, turn on extra login protection if available, and update reused passwords on other accounts.
