A widely used Chrome add-on called “Adblock for YouTube,” installed by more than 10 million people, was found to include hidden capability that could let it run unwanted code inside a user’s browser.
Who is at risk
Anyone using Google Chrome with the “Adblock for YouTube” browser add-on installed is most at risk, especially people who use their browser for email, shopping, banking, or work.
What to watch for
Watch for unusual browser behavior such as unexpected pop-ups, changed settings, strange redirects, pages not loading normally, or being signed out of websites.
What to do
Immediately remove the “Adblock for YouTube” Chrome add-on, review your other installed add-ons, and restart your browser.
